Mil Veces un Instante
Meet Mil Veces un Instante – the powerful new artwork occupying the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. Created by Mexican artist Teresa Margolles, this striking sculpture features 726 life masks of trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people from London and Mexico. Each face captures the individuality, strength, and presence of the person behind it – forming a haunting, beautiful monument to queer resilience. Inspired by ancient Mesoamerican traditions and dedicated to Margolles’s late friend and trans activist Karla La Borrada, the piece stands as a bold reminder: trans lives matter, and their stories deserve space in the heart of the city.
