It all started with a spark. A blistering summer day at Trans Pride in London — the air electric, the streets alive with colour, joy, resistance, and the sheer beauty of trans brilliance.

Through the music and movement, one banner rose above the blur: “Transkaters.” Just a name at first — but it planted a seed.

Months passed, and that seed had bloomed. What began as a glimmer was now a full-blown movement on wheels, carving out space with style, strength, and solidarity.

I had to know more. I reached out, laced up, and rolled into one of their nights — and the rest? That’s a story best seen, not told.

Transkaters - The Safe Haven

Transkaters is a vibrant, wheelchair-accessible community space created for trans+ skaters to connect, learn, and roll together in a safe and inclusive environment. Born out of the need for a space where trans+ individuals could skate without judgement or welfare concerns, Transkaters hosts monthly meet-ups that welcome skaters of all skill levels—whether you're stepping on wheels for the first time or already confident on the ramps. With beginner-friendly classes, tips, and a strong sense of community, it's more than just skating—it's a place to belong.
